Amendment 8: Limits of Fines and Punishments

 

The Eighth Amendment requires the law to not inflict exessive bail/fines, or deal out cruel and unusual punishments. For this assignment, we will focus on the cruel and punishment rule. Many people believe that the death penalty is a cruel and unusual punishment, and that it should be lifted. Other punishments include: torture, cutting off a person's hand for pickpocketing, etc.
